Who created Maker Faire?

Dale Dougherty, founder and executive chairman of Maker Media, and Sherry Huss, vice president of Maker Media, created Maker Faire in 2006. Maker Media closed down in 2019. Shortly afterwords founder Dale Dougherty and a small team banded together to rebuild in service of the community a new company called, appropriately, Make: Community. With its office in Santa Rosa, California, Make: Community is the parent company of Make: magazine, Make Faire, Maker Camp and Maker Shed, and is leading the Maker Movement around the world. Make: Community proudly continues to hold and support Maker Faires worldwide.
